L-carnosine is a dipeptide that is found in the heart, brain, stomach, skin, kidneys, and muscles. It is composed of two kinds of amino acids, namely histidine and alanine.

This ingredient presents has a lot of benefits. It is naturally found in the body but it depends by several factors and has long been associated with longevity due to its strong antioxidant properties.

Its levels depend by the age, stress and trauma. These factor can decrease levels and also alter the amount in the body.

What Are The Health Benefits Of L-carnosine?

In general, L-carnosine has three main benefits:

Eye Health – L-carnosine is important on helping with many eye conditions, e.g. cataracts. L-carnosine is naturally found in eye tissue but decreases with age. Eye drops with L-carnosine have proven effective against primary and mature senile cataracts.

How You Get Additional L-carnosine?

The best way I have found to get L-carnosine is through a multivitamin that is loaded with plenty of natural ingredients. The most important thing to remember is that the supplement should include all natural ingredients. So make sure it does not contain synthetic materials, binders, or fillers to ensure maximum absorption and utilization by the body.

Salmon

Salmon is another kind of fish considered a good source of protein and include an high in omega3 and vitamin D. It born in fresh water and usually found in the Great Lakes but also in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans as well. They migrate to the ocean and come back to fresh waters to reproduce. There are different kind of Salmon, pink salmon, silver salmon, cherry salmon, rainbowhead trout, among others.

Tuna

Another healthy fish to eat is Tuna. Tuna is an oily fish, which contains proteins, vitamin D as omega3 fatty acids as well.

Tuna flesh is different from other fish. While some tuna species have white in color, tuna is pink to dark red but there are other kinds of tuna ranging from albacore tuna as yellowfin tuna as well, and many more. It can be eaten grilled, canned, and tossed in salad.

One important thing to know is that tuna in water is better than tuna in oil as omega3 fatty acids can actually mix with the oil which is usually drained.

Hoki

Hoki is a good source of rich in omega3 fatty acids. It can be baked, grilled, steamed, sauteed. It is found in the coasts of New Zealand and Australia which are considered to have clean waters. It has a dense white flesh that is very rich in omega3 fatty acids. It can be sauteed, grilled, baked, or steamed.

Final Consideration

Sure these are all three good fish for the body due of their high omega3 content, however many people prefer to use fish oil supplements.

One of downside of tuna and salmon is that are prone to contamination with dioxins, PCB’s, and mercury, that are dangerous to the health while hoki is less prone.

Supplements are also cheap and let you get the omega3 you need fastly, just the time to take a pill in your mouth. However, I reccommend to be carefull while choose a fish oil, check up if it fresh, pure, and contains the right amount of DHA and EPA first.
